The location is great for walking to the beach or into Kailua town. We are on the East side or the Windward side of the island.
We have a 3 mile beach with no hotels. And yet, Honolulu is only 10 miles away.
So, yes, come and watch the sunrise out of the ocean. Many hike to the pillboxes for the amazing view of the bay for sunrise. And there is nothing like seeing the full moon rise out of the ocean. On our side of the island the sun sets to the west over the mountains. Wake up to the sound of birds singing and breezes rustling in the palm fronds. The trade winds blow off the ocean onto the land.
There is an olympic sized community pool and tennis courts right up the street toward Kailua town. Enjoy a morning walk on Kailua Beach. It is known as a safe place to learn to kite surf because the prevailing winds
blow toward the beach. Swim to Flat Island or kayak to the Mokulua Islands. Beach chairs and boogie boards are available for your use. At night you can hear the wind in the palms and the waves on the beach. Due to a long time detour related to construction at the entrance of Lanikai we are experiencing more traffic. Apparently ancient bones were found during construction which causes delays as they handle the situation respectfully.
Yes, we are a licensed legal bed and breakfast. You do not have to worry about the City shutting us down. At this time we provide a complementary first mornings breakfast.

Ginger Studio
The Ginger Studio with a private entrance and private bath, is a cozy bedroom with a queen-sized bed. It’s perfect for a party of two. There is a bubbling Chinese steamer pot fountain near the door. The unit is equipped with AC, wifi, and cable tv . It has its own “Secret Garden,” with a table for two and its own bubbling fountain. Windows open to a view of areca palms.
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and no tub. It has a breakfast bar (all utensils, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, under counter refrigerator), and a table for two. Yes, irons, linens, towels, and beach towels are provided.

The Garden Suite
The Garden Suite has a private entrance and private bath. It is a small one-bedroom suite. It has a small living/dining/kitchen with a sofa/day bed. It has a separate bedroom with a queen-sized bed. It has a Bath with a large shower with tile the color of the ocean and no tub. The unit is equipped with AC, wifi, and cable tv . The kitchenette has all utensils, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, two burner hot plate and 3/4 size refrigerator. It has its own private garden area with a charcoal grill.
Perfect for a party of two or three. The Garden Suite and the Ginger Studio have an adjoining door between the bedrooms, so when unlocked, it becomes a two-bedroom, two-bath unit that can accommodate 4 or 5 people together.

Two Bedroom Two Bath
Two Bedroom Two Bath unit is the combination of the Garden Suite and the Ginger Studio listed above. While each unit has separate exterior access and are separately keyed, when they are rented together they have an interior door which connects the units through the bedrooms.
Each unit has a garden area which is exclusively for the tenants occupying these units. The Garden Suite has an exterior table for a party of 4 or 5.
Best of all the location is 10 houses away from the best beach on the island. And yes, irons, towels, beach towels, boogie boards and beach chairs are provided.

About Sheffield House
Paul & Rachel
We have adopted Kailua as our home and corner of paradise.
By way of introduction, Paul is an architect and Rachel is a landscape architect. We love flowers and have opened our home to the gardens to travelers to share this corner of paradise. We are from Georgia, Texas, Singapore and California, and moved here in 1986 on our honeymoon and never left. We have three adult children. Our son lives with us, and both of our daughters live in California.
These listings have come through guest recommendations to the authors of these books. Hawaii Sheffield House is a legal bed and breakfast on Oahu. There are many requirements to be legal. You may notice that there are no billboards in Hawaii. Hawaii has a very strict sign laws. Since we are in a residential neighborhood we can not have a sign for our business in front of Hawaii Sheffield House.
